It's been a minute, hasn't it? Don't blame me though, blame Time Warner and their lack of customer service. *sigh. Friday night my internet went down. Saturday, Shawn and I went out for most of the day and when we came home, I argued with Time Warner from 3:09 p.m. to about 9:30 p.m. I talked to seven operators/technicians. One says to upgrade my Road Runner. Another says that their system has been down (due to the weater). Someone else asks me to turn off my RCA modem, (you know, the one that I don't have). The next guy says he will call me back with an appointment for tomorrow (which was Sunday at the time). He doesn't call me back, so I call them back and talk to someone else who says it's impossible to get a Sunday appointment. I ask for a supervisor, am assured I will get a response and an hour later I'm calling yet another supervisor. *sigh* The "best" they can do is give me an appointment from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Tuesday?
Tuesday I'm running around like a chicken with it's head cut off because I have no internet access and I can't print the release forms for "Knitty Gritty" which will be taping in, oh, about two hours. You can only imagine. I had to drive 25 minutes the opposite direction to my moms work to print these two forms. But in the end, it was all worth it!
Our taping was with Scout from
Scouts Swag. It was all about dying yarn, which in a way was a bummer because we didn't get to actually dye the yarn. But all the same, I had a lot of fun and met some really nice knitters. I intended on doing socks, really I did...but during the three hours of taping, they sort of turned into knee highs...
Here's a close up of the baby cables. I actually changed the pattern the day before because I didn't like the elongated cables I was originally knitting. I really think it made the difference. I'm hoping that tonight I can make myself a cup of hot chocolate (with some of that whip cream that's calling my name) and start to turn the heel.
I was also able to finish the
Blue Sky Alpacas Lacy Dress. I bought the kit from
Jimmy Beans. I ended up with a little extra yarn from the third hank, so I'm going to knit a hat to match.
Here's the bands, which I had to modify a bit. The pattern actually tells you to sew the bands together and then sew to buttons up on top for the collar. Instead I did about 8 buttonholes up the front. I think it would look better that way. (Now I have to go find some matching buttons!)
And then the pretty, girly, frilly ruffles.
I'm really happy to have another FO for the baby. That makes two! I told Shawn I'd work on the Pinwheel Sweater from
Elann and try to get the sleeves done. I've decided not to add an edging. While the I cord looks pretty, I think it will be too much and well...yeah! I'm the one knitting it!
Everything else is the world is going fairly well. Shawn and I will be celebrating our first year anniversary this weekend. He has no idea, (well maybe a little), that I'm making him a Paper Bag Book album for him. I've gotten most of it done in about 6 hours. Three more hours tomorrow and I should be done. (I'll post pictures tomorrow!) I also have to pick up a 1/2 lb. of fudge for him from See's candies (and maybe a little something for me?) because my lame attempts at fudge were just that...lame. Saturday we will go to dinner at this Italian restaurant and then (depending on weather) I want us to take a drive out to the beach. (Again depending on weather because supposedly there's a storm a comin'.)
Our last Dr. appointment was on Monday and everything is fine. (Except that lastnight I think I had too much salt in my dinner because now I'm a little swollen.) He said the baby is where she needs to be and that it could be any day now. If I went into labor right now, they wouldn't stop me! So it's all about time. I'm so excited, yet nervous as well. Shawn and I want her to be here so badly, but we haven't really worked out the nuts and bolts of who will have Jem the day of the C Section and what they will do for the four days I'm in the hospital. Lucky for me (and my mother), my mom is getting a car this week, so I will have a little extra help.
Until then, I knit.

Your baby dress is incredible! A true heirloom. Glad you had a good time on Knitty Gritty. I am reading stories about that all over!
AJ, the little dress is adorable and the knee-highs are looking great. Are you actually cabling or is it a mock cable?
As for the Knitty Gritty thingy - is that on T.V?? MAN! You MUST tape it for me - somehow.
That dress is lovely! Your daughter will look beautiful in it.
Your sock is shaping up nicely also. Very good work.
Hang in there. You're almost at the end.
Everthing is just lovely! What talent you have! I can hardly wait to see your pretty baby girl in that dress.
