Let There Be Socks!

They are done. My Dalton socks are done!

And I ♥ them so much!

And a close up of the Yarn Over Cable pattern.

The Knitty Gritty:

Pattern: Yarn Over Cables from "Sensational Knitted Socks" by Charlene Schurch, made with Easy Toe and Short Row Heel

Yarn: "Lucy" colorway by Socks that Rock, mediumweight

Gauge: 7 1/2 sts=1" on US 2's

Mods: None, except to fit my feet! :)

I have to say that after the initial fear of a short row heel, it's actually quite easy. I had some help from Jillian, so thank you lady!

In other sock knitty news, my books came:

Both books are quite impressive, but I have to say that I'm a little disappointed with IK and their book. Maybe it's because I'm a beginning sock knitter, but most patterns have fairly small sizes. I do not have a size 7 1/2" circumference. Or an 8". More like 9 1/2". Damn me and my high instep! There are a number of patterns I'd like to knit, but now it's just a matter of adjusting the size. *sigh* I don't think I'm quite ready for that yet.

Oh, btw, Cookie A. was on DIY's Knitty Gritty yesterday and it was a great show. There was a lot of great sock knitting information. So if any of you have a DVR, or TiVo, start taping the show. My show with Scout is being shown early. Early as in April 9th! So check it out.

Onto knitting socks for Shawn...oh boy!

I wear 9's and I've made one of the socks. I was able to adjust them slightly by getting 8 stitches or 7 stitches to the inch. I would check your gauge for the pattern you want, then see if the cast on and your spi matched for the right size socks. Hope that helped. :)

Hooray! They look wonderful - beautiful and comfy!

On the Fave Socks patterns, socks that have a continuous repeat can easily be upsized by adding a pattern repeat. I think I'll be doing the opposite to be able to use heavier yarn - subtracting a repeat. Also, you can select a heavier yarn (maybe sport weight versus fingering) using the same pattern, et voila - larger sock! Or, depending on the pattern go up one needle size and see if the fabric is still acceptable for socks!

I'm waiting the MSS book from Amazon right now!

I ♥ your Dalton socks! That stitch pattern does a wonderful job of mixing up the colours.

The socks look beautiful my dear!

I missed Cookie A on Knitty Gritty - Grrr... What epsiode # was it? Cuz it may air later on Canadian TV! I just discovered that it's on HGTV! (Home & Garden TV! here in Canada). Also - I'm already making sure I'm home for the Knitty Gritty with Scout Swag!

What do you mean by "your show" with Scout? Are you on the show too? I'm confused!

I am so in love with those socks! I love the yarn, and the pattern, and the two together are a perfect fit!

By the way, I love the paint color that you chose for the room. DH and I are trying to figure out what we want to do in the rest of the house... I think every room I bring up the color green you used. It is so refreshing!

I think I may save up a little and buy some of the yarn you used for those socks. Is it super soft??

Those socks look fabulous! I really like that Lucy colorway.

Are you a knitster on the Scout episode? I can't wait to see it!
