Monday Update

So far we haven't been evacuated. Three blocks north of us has been road blocked. Beyond the road block they have mandatory evacuations. Castaic isn't doing better. Neither is Bouquet Canyon, (that's were we went to the Pumpkin Festival last year, and where I hoped to take Scout). The winds are still high, approximately 50 mph. My windows are rattling pretty bad.

I stayed up til about 2 this morning. I couldn't sleep. The fire isn't that close to us, but it's not that far either. And nobody expected 25,000 acres to burn in 24 hours. There would be a lot to burn before getting to us. Unfortunately there are many small stores, a lot of houses, and a gas station. That scares me.

Here's a picture of the fire on the West side, which is right outside our bedroom. (That fire is much further away, but I took a close up.) The little trailer on the bottom is across the street from us.

I'm keeping you in my thoughts!! Hubby flew down to San Diego this morning for a business meeting- only 5 of the 20 people he was supposed to meet with made it into work due to the fires... I wish he would get on a plane and come home.

Take care sweetie & keep that family of yours safe.

Oh, I am so sorry! I know how scary fires are. I was at my parents in Chatsworth yesterday and we could see the smoke from Aqua Dulce. I hope you all are safe and I'll think good thoughts for you and your family!

Hey, I've just been running through the SP11 list and came across you -- that is one frightening picture. I hope you're still save.

My prayers are with you... I know from when I lived in San Diego county 11 years ago how scary the winds and fires can be. Stay safe.
