For Sale

Normally I wouldn't think of getting rid of yarn, but lately my "spring cleaning" has gone to the extreme: bleaching the kitchen floors, washing walls, cleaning the carpet (on a weekly basis), organizing books, etc.

And while I'll still do my Ripple Afghan, (eventually), I am not going to be using the intended yarn and decided to sell it, (if I could).

First up: 4 skeins of Cascade 220 in mustard yellow, tan, cream, and navy blue. Each skein has already been wound into a cake and is 220 yards. 100% wool. Gauge: 18-20 sts per 4" on US 7/8. I would prefer to sell them as a lot, but I will sell them individually for $5 per cake or $20 for the lot plus shipping and handling. (Normal store price is $7-$9 per skein.)

And secondly, Koigu. I know, I would never think of selling Koigu. BUT...I had done a gauge swatch and decided that for whatever crazy and nonsensical reason, I don't like it!

There are two full skeins of Koigu KPM in a buttery yellow. (The picture is a little too extreme.) I wound one skein, by hand and did a small gauge swatch. Both skeins are the full 175 yards. 100% wool. Gauge: 28 sts=4" on US 3's. $18 for both skeins plus shipping and handling. (I paid $24 for both skeins.)

Yeah, you guys know me. I love to save money on yarn, but I don't tend to buy a bunch at once unless I have a project already in mind. However, the LYS is having a 50% off everything SALE, starting today! I went with the intentions of only buying some Koigu for a pair, or three, of socks. I wanted to get some for Shawn too. So I did.

Top Right: Lana Grossa "Elastico" in a Bubblegum Pink (it's a cotton/polyester blend), (480 yards can yield something for Scout, right?)

Bottom Right: Two more hanks of Cascade 220 for my Ripple Afghan, that I intend on starting this week. (I hope.)

Bottom Left: Two skeins of Koigu KPPM in dark greens for a new pair of socks for Shawn.

Top Right: Two skeins of Karabella Margrite, (an extrafine merino and cashmere blend), in a baby blue for a cabled hat and scarf from "Cables Untangled". (I have a feeling I will need more though, so I might pick up another skein or two tomorrow, while I can still get it on sale.)

So that's my stash enhancement for now.

Sale Starts Today and Ends Whenever

As promised, I went through, (some), of my stash.

So now for the important stuff. I live in a non smoking household. We have both a cat and dog, though the dog isn't around the yarn, the cat is. He sometimes sleeps in my stash, but all the yarns are stored in bags. Just keep that in mind if you have allergies! (I don't want to be the cause of an outbreak or death, thank you very much!)

First:

Scouts Swag Superwash Merino in Orchids, 350 yards. Gauge: 6-8 sts per 1". Still have enough from first skein to make the Knitty Gritty socks. $15. SOLD

(Sorry for the blurry picture on this one.) Yarn is Gedifra Fiocco in Black. I had actually started a sweater with this yarn, (well over two years ago), and didn't have much luck with the pattern, since then it's been sitting in balls in my stash. Only two balls have the bands, the others have been rewound into balls. Yarn is 80% cotton and 20% nylon, 850 m. (approximately 10 balls). $30.

Manos Del Uruguay Handcrafted Kettle Dyed Pure Wool. 1 Hank, approx. 138 yards. Gauge is 14-18 sts=4" on US 8-10 needles. Color #27, a variegated blue. $8 SOLD

Debbie Bliss Cathay. 50% Cotton, 35% Viscose, 15% Silk in Color #12018, Dyelot #54, (It's a dark inky blue color, it's what I made my Pullover Caftan in.) Gauge is 22 x30 for 4" square on US 5 needles. There are four skeins, approximately 110 yards each. $12. SOLD

KFI Cashmereno, (that's really how it's spelled), yarn. (This stuff is very soft and has been discontinued for some time.) It's 55% Merino, 33% Microfiber and 12% Cashmere. Color # 03 312, a dusty pink. Gauge is 22 x 30 for 4". There are two balls, though one had been used slightly for a swatch. Each ball is 135 m. Both for $8.

And last, but not least.

Rowan 4ply cotton. (This is what I made Scout's blanket out of.) It's 100% cotton and VERY thin. Color 119, Lot 25C4. Each ball is 186 yards and there are 5 balls leftover. (Two are missing ball bands.) Gauge is 27-29 sts x 37-39 rows for 4" on US 2-3 needles. $15.

Yarn Sale Tomorrow

Yes. You heard correctly. I am going to do a little online yarn sale tomorrow. I doubt I really have anything that anyone wants, (let alone needs), but I feel like purging the stash and have only tried selling items on eBay. I have a feeling I'll have more luck on here then eBay. At least for now. So be on the lookout, I will post pictures and prices tomorrow a.m. I have some Debbie Bliss, Cashmerino, Manos del Uruguay, Gedifra, and Scouts Swag. Maybe some Koigu, though I'm not sure I will part with that.

I had a chance to do a little shopping yesterday. I went to Target to pick up the cutest Spring dress for Scout's portraits, (those I will post on Feb. 16th when I pick them up). On the way I home I decided to stop by Barnes and Noble. I actually was only going to check out the magazines, being somewhat interested in Knit Scene since you can't get it through subscription. I liked the newest issue, but then I came across this and decided that this would be much more useful:

"Classic Knits: 15 Timeless Designs to Knit and Keep Forever" by Erika Knight. Oh yes.

This is the Wrap Around Coat. Lovely. It's knit on big needles in a chunky yarn and actually has a very good variation in sizes.

And then there was this little off the shoulder number called Bardot, (as in Bridget Bardot, though I may not be spelling her name right):

Very pretty.

There are 15 patterns and at least seven that I'd definitely knit for myself, (wallet and cash flow willing). I think that's what makes buying books worth the $19.95. I've gotten sick of buying one book featuring one pattern. It's all so disappointing. Which makes me think I might go ahead and sell a book or two while I'm at it.

Recycle. It's good for the Earth. It's good for Knitters.
