And Then There Were None

Oh how I wish I could have no WIP's, but what kind of a Knitter would I be without something on the needles. (Or more.) Unlike some Knitter's I know, (and you know who you are), I am not trying to get all of my knitting out of the way and start fresh for 2007! What's the fun in that? I'm a procrastinator, and you know what? I'm fine with that!
So in my knitting bag I have:
  1. Debbie Bliss Baby Shawl (the one I posted yesterday)
  2. Frost Jacket by Norah Gaughan (I'm in the Knitting Nature KAL)
  3. Vogue Cabled Tunic
  4. Orchids Socks (from when I was on "Knitty Gritty")
  5. Shawn's Heather Grey Aghan (My goal is to have it ready on January 28th, for his 27th birthday)
  6. Sweet Pea Sacque (as soon as I can figure out how to baste the shoulders)
  7. Pinwheel Sweater by elann (which I can procrastinate longer on because Scout won't be able to wear it for quite a while)

And (I think) that's it.

Don't get me wrong, I have about 4 different yarns for socks, (like Lorna's Laces in Denim and IceHouse, Koigu, and some Cha Cha from the SP9 Swap.) I have enough Rowan Denim in "Flood" for a big, cozy, sweater. I also need to get started on my Rusted Root from Zephyr that I bought yarn for in September! I have some Alpaca in a pretty cream and pink that would make a very lovely (and uber soft) scarf. Yes! I have yarn.

And yet here I am buying more patterns and more books like these:

It's called The New Granny Square, by Susan Cottrell and Cindy Weloth. Now I'm not a crocheter. Miraculously I've actually crocheted an afghan for my friend Kristy's baby. (Mind you, that was well over a year ago and I had A LOT of help...especially because the pattern was written wrong.) I'll have to post a picture of it later because Blogger isn't letting me add anymore pictures. But anyway, I want to crochet. Last Spring, Vogue came out with a great issue in their knitting magazine...but some of the projects involved some major crochet. I want to tackle it. And maybe this book will have some helpful hints.

And while I've already knit a scarf from the book, I decided to actually buy it because I would like to work on the Lady Eleanor Stole that everyone was working on in 2006. Entrelac here I come! There's no stopping me!

New Years is always filled with Resolutions of what we hope to accomplish in the coming year. But honestly, I doubt by the end of February I will remember half of the things I'd like to succeed at. And really, I'm quite happy with what I have right now. I have a wonderfully silly little girl to tend to now. She's definitely the apple of our eyes. You should see the way Shawn looks at her and holds her. (He will deny it to the end, but he's in love...absolutely and completely taken by her.)

I haven't really thought of any resolutions. (Though every year I vow to lose 20 lbs. and end up gaining, instead of shedding. Don't we all? I sure hope so. *nervous laugh*) So I've made my resolutions simple for 2007:

  1. Make the perfect chocolate chip cookie
  2. Take at least two classes for the Spring 2007 semester (one will definitely be online, possibly both of them will be)
  3. Knit for me, knit for Shawn, knit for Scout, knit for Jem and knit for charity ("Knitting for Peace" was a great inspiration, though I haven't decided where to start yet)
  4. Learn Entrelac Knitting
  5. Practice spinning with the spindle
  6. Learn to hand dye yarn (at home)
  7. Work on my crochet skills
  8. Be more involved with school and church
  9. Enjoy my time here on Earth!

I have 364 days to accomplish all of this! What do you think? Can it be done? I think it can!

Learning enterlac was on my to-do list this year too. I found this pattern. Really fun to knit and easy too! I cast on the other day and I'm loving it.

Happy New Year!
