I Got The Blues

First, I am fine. My back was hurting a bit yesterday, so my mom gave me a couple Vicodin and I'm not feeling much of anything. The car wasn't damaged that bad considering the thing is made of steel, but it is quite a big dent. Shawn is dealing with her because she doesn't want it reported to the DMV or insurance companies. Shawn doesn't want it reported either because the insurance company will say that the damage is more than the car is worth, and we can't afford to give up the car since it's not worth much anyway. So we'll see what happens.

I have not spoken with the professor, but I've decided I won't be taking the class. It's not a class I need, and honestly I don't want to deal with a teacher who is so rude. Most professors take into consideration that there is no parking the first two weeks of classes, so they give you time. And most professors I've had take into consideration that life happens. This is not so with this teacher. I don't want to put any more effort into to it. So, that's that. I'll finish the last class I need next semester, (it's only available in Spring), and that will be it.

I'm happy to say that not all of my luck has been bad. Today I got a very nice surprise in the mail:
My Secret Pal sent me a very nice gift indeed! Inside was a skein of Artful Yarns Shakespeare, (100% wool), that would make a very soft scarf. There was also a cute notebook, which you can never have enough; a big bag of Werther's Hard Candies, (which I will definitely be hiding from Shawn); and a sachet. It smells great!

There was also a skein of this yummy sock yarn, that I think she hand dyed:

Pretty huh? Definitely going to make some nice socks with this! Oh yes!

But that's not all. Yesterday I received this in the mail:

It's Shelby B's Designs Superwash Sock yarn in Ravenclaw. I intended on buying her last skein last week, but someone bought it before I could. She was very nice and dyed this for me as a custom order. I love the colors and now I'm wishing I bought two skeins because this will be used for my Hogwarts Sock Pals Socks. I'm still searching for the right pattern.

And then the day before that, I got this:

It's Berroco Peruvia. I got a very good deal from Ebay and decided to buy the 9 skeins I needed for the IK Tilted Duster. I cast on last night:

I obviously didn't get much done, but I'm very happy with the stitch definition. Which is more than I can say for the Wheat Ear Cable Yoke. I think I'm going to frog it and go one needle size smaller. And if that doesn't work, well I'll find a different yarn.

Oh and my Monkeys:
Koigu. What else can I say? Perfection? Yes. I love the colors and you know me, I'm not a pink person, but the colors are grand! I don't know if these will fit me though. I had to go down two needle sizes and while the leg fits, I don't know how the foot will. If they don't fit I'll gift them to my old neighbors mother, because I wanted to knit her a pair of socks and her socks are smaller, so I guess that's the perfect scenario!

The weather has finally cooled down, I'm talking 70's here. So, I'm thinking that tomorrow we will take a ride to the beach. I have an ulterior motive though. I joined the Secret of the Stole KAL. I know, I know, I need to stop joining stuff. But I can't help it, they are fun! Anyway, I have a skein of Jade Sapphire Mongolian Cashmere that I want to use, but I need another two skeins and I'm thinking that a trip to Wildfiber is in order. I've never really done lace, I mean the Charlotte's Web and Koigu was sort of lace, but not the kind you think about when you hear "lace knitting". So this was my incentive to join. Plus it involves knitting with beads, which I've yet to do.

And I also joined Sock Wars. *sigh* Will I ever learn?
