Sew? I don't sew!

Materials needed:

• 575 Yards of Sport Weight Yarn (I'm using 3 skeins of RYC Cashsoft 4 ply in Spring)
• Size 2 and Size 3 16" circular needles (I've gone up to a Size 3 and 4)
• Other: Tapestry needle (check), stitch markers (check), stitch holder (check), bodkin (what's a "bodkin"?), 15 1/2" length of 1/4" elastic (oh goodness), sewing thread (check, thanks Mom), and needle (check)

Ok, this all sounds easy. But they said I'll have to sew. Sew? I don't sew. I've tried convincing my mom to teach me. We have an old Singer. (And when I mean old, I really think it's older than my mom.) She has tried, on numerous occasions, to tell me that the sewing machine is too old and that the bobbin gives her too many problems. Thus, sewing lessons are on hold.

So here I am, trying to figure out how the heck I'm gonna pull this one off. I've made hats in the round, but never an outift. This will be a first. The whole thing isn't done in the round though, making the instructions a bit more than "intermediate" as classified on the site.

So far...

I've done the 5 rows at the bottom and then a Purl row. This will be the casing for the elastic. (At least I understand that. Thanks to DIY when Vickie Howell and guest made a drawstring bag.) I am on the 12th knit round of 15. Then there is some decreasing, then some knitting. I can do all that! BUT, when it comes to the bodice I'm a little stumped! (So that's why the girls at the knitting shop always said, "Don't read too far ahead in the pattern".)

I'll stop here. But you better believe I will be here complaining and crying and frogging soon! Until then I will enjoy the heavenly bliss known as Rowan. For the longest time, Debbie Bliss was my favorite by far. I mean Cashmerino, Wool/Cotton, Cathay...But ROWAN...Oh Rowan, Oh Rowan, where for art thou? Anyone who loves to work with that perfect yarn (or at least on the hunt for it), you need to try RYC yarns. They are delicious. (Not that I am biased, hehe.)

In other news, here's Scarlett. Now I'm a member of Two Peas In a Bucket, which is a scrapbooking website. I'll admit that the past year has been more of a collecting year, than a scrapbooking year. I make cards here and there, but scrapbooking hasn't been my number one passion. I blame that on knitting. But anyway, I'm off point. Yesterday someone posted about how they don't agree with Pit Bull bans. Well as you can see neither do I. (Why else would I have a pretty little Pit Bull in my life?) She looks like a Princess Leia to me. Not a vicious killer! She is so photogenic, though I hate seeing her pretty mustard colored eyes all gray and transparent. Isn't she a cutie? I ♥ my Pit Bull!
